Sant’Antioco Island: the most beautiful beaches

Adrenaline at the Vogorno dam – the place where James Bond jumped into the void

Continuing our journey, we arrived at the Vogorno Dam, the dam from which the famous secret agent 007, James Bond, jumped off in the movie “GoldenEye”. With an impressive height of about 220 m, this dam offers a spectacular view over the valley and Lake Vogorno. If you’re looking for a thrill, you can also try bungee jumping. But if you’re more cautious, you can admire the stunning panorama and enjoy a dose of visual adrenaline.

Milan’s Maldives or Ponte dei Salti: How to get there

After a short stop at the Vogorno dam, we head towards Sonogno, and after about 8 kilometres we discover Ponte dei Salti or the so-called “Maldives of Milan”.

The “Maldives of Milan” is nothing more than a canyon of white stone inside which there are crystal blue waters and natural pools for swimming and a day of relaxing in the sun. Here, the stone bridge is the protagonist, but around it the nature is incredible, with water as blue as in few other places and nature so green that you feel like you’re in the Maldives.

Sonogno – a fairytale village

From Ponte dei Salti we head towards Sonogno, a picturesque village in the upper part of the Verzasca Valley. The traditional stone houses, narrow streets and authentic atmosphere made us feel like we were in a long forgotten past. We strolled along the paved paths and admired the majestic peaks surrounding the village. Here, we had the chance to connect with the rural charm and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of this corner of heaven.

The village centre can be explored in a short time: there are various restaurants, two caves – Grotto Redorta in the centre of the village and Grotto Efra close to Froda Waterfall, and from here many other trails start which in a short time (25 minutes on foot, 10 minutes by bike) lead you to Froda Waterfall.
