Travelogue: Les Arc 2000

After our foray into the picturesque setting of Les Arc 1950, our journey into the heart of the Alps continues with a climb at Les Arc 2000. From Les Arc 1950, access to this resort is via a free cable car, which takes us to an altitude of 2000 metres in just two minutes.

In Les Arc 2000, the air is cooler, but the views are even more spectacular.

What to visit at Les Arc 2000

At Arc 2000, the highest point and with a beautiful view of Mont Blanc.

The beginnings of this resort date back to the 1980s, when it opened with a single iconic building – the Med Club. Over the years, Les Arcs 2000 has evolved considerably, becoming today the second largest resort in the Les Arcs ski region, just behind Les Arcs 1800. While retaining an intimate atmosphere, the resort is made up of several large apartment complexes, which impress with their traditional Alpine architecture and wooden elements.

In Les Arc 2000, not only can you indulge in winter sports during the cold season, but in summer, the resort reveals its hiking and trekking trails. It is an ideal place to breathe pure mountain air and enjoy the vast panorama of the surrounding mountains.

All the trails to explore to the top of the mountains

The resort is the starting point for numerous trekking routes. Well-marked trails invite us to discover hidden alpine lakes, follow trails through pastures or venture up to peaks where snow persists even in the summer months. Some trails are easy, perfect for a leisurely stroll, others are more demanding and require the right equipment and fitness.

Not to be missed is the ascent to the Aiguille Rouge at 3226m (by cable car) for a spectacular view of the Mont Blanc or Varet massif, but I will tell you about these places in a separate article.
