Vernazza is considered the pearl of the Cinque Terre area, in Liguria, Italy. A picturesque place where I was for a mini holiday during August. About Vernazza, I can tell you that it is a costal small village built up in a rock and has a population of 1000 inhabitants. It’s the third biggest place amongst the five that make Cinque Terre.

Vernazza has been included in the UNESCO world heritage since 1997

The main attractions are the church St Margareta from Antiohia from 1318, the Madonna Reggio Sanctuary from the 13th centuries, Castello Doria from the 15th centuries. In Vernazza square there is also a small beach and a small harbor for small boats. About the beaches, there is a slightly bigger one as well and with easy access.

In Vernazza there are a lot of narrow streets with very steep steps. In order to discover this place one needs to be fresh and has comfy shoes. I think that just in one day, I climbed more than 2000 steps.

Another spectacular place with outstanding views of the place and also to some other places in Cinque Terre, it is Castello Doria.

Here are a few images that I took with my camera in Vernazza.
