It is believed to have been built at the end of the 1st century BC, during the reign of Augustus or Tiberius.<\/p>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"9:1-9:326\">The theatre impresses with its semicircular structure, which is perfectly adapted to the slope of the hill on which it is located. Facing north to protect the audience from the midday sun.<\/p>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"9:1-9:326\">Architectural elements such as the stage (scaena) and proscenium are outstanding examples of the Roman style, illustrating the ingenuity and craftsmanship of the ancient builders.<\/p>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"11:1-11:217\">The theatre could accommodate up to 3,500 spectators and was used for a variety of performances including plays, music and dance.
