This historical period has always captivated me since my school years. It is an era so far back in time, yet so full of invention and progress. Each stage it is divided into is marked by impressive discoveries that have shaped our lives today. This is why it is important to know our human origins and understand how the human individual has evolved over time.
Unfortunately, in my time, prehistory, like history, was studied only from books, and we had to make do with the information and illustrations they provided. We are still a generation that grew up without the internet, YouTube and all the visual information possibilities of today. But now, living in Italy and in a world that has changed, I like more and more to discover new things about the past, but also about the future. The best moments of discovery are those experienced in person, in places that immerse you in the historical or artistic world you want to explore. Museums and archaeological parks are perfect for cultural enrichment, living and experiencing historical periods first-hand.
Archeopark is an interactive archaeological park located in Boario Terme, Italy that will transport you back in time, discovering the life and culture of ancient peoples from prehistory and protohistory.
In 1999, in Boario Terme, in the Camonica Valley, an archaeologist designed and built Archeopark, a true interactive open-air museum dedicated to prehistory. On an area of about 100,000 square metres, surrounded by foothills and in the midst of nature, it is possible to explore the material and spiritual life of the ancient Camuni and the populations of the Padana and the Alps over 15,000 years.
Having a daughter with a passion for dinosaurs and prehistoric humans, we decided to go to this park to spend a fun and educational day exploring prehistory and its secrets. In this article, I want to share with you what you can do and see at Archeopark: from historical reconstructions to educational workshops. If you have children in elementary or middle school and you live in the Lombardy or Veneto region, it is definitely worth visiting this park.
Specifically, we visited this park 2-3 years ago, when the little girl was younger, and although I didn’t manage to publish the pictures then, now, finding them in the computer, I think it’s worth discovering this place.
The most direct route by car is on the A4 motorway (Turin – Trieste). You will need to follow the A4 east from Milan to the exit for Seriate. After leaving the motorway, follow the signs to Lovere and then to Boario Terme. The drive takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
The park offers a wide range of educational and fun activities:
Archeopark is open from 17 March to 1 November.
Admission is free for children up to the age of 4. Promotions are not cumulative.
Visit the Archaeopark website to learn more about the park and its events programme.
A visit to Archeopark is a fascinating journey through time, giving you a unique insight into the life and culture of ancient peoples. With its detailed reconstructions, interactive workshops and historical re-enactment shows, Archeopark is an educational and fun experience for the whole family.
If you are looking for a trip where fun blends harmoniously with education, Archaeopark is the ideal destination for a day full of adventure and discovery!
