A screen adaptation of Philip K Dick’s novel of the same name, the series attempts to provide a glimpse into an alternate history of North America.
What would life have been like after World War II if the Nazis and Imperialist Japan had won that war, what would have happened if Hitler had won the World War, and what the world would have looked like in that case.
The story develops on a cold war between the two winners and their totally different cultures and ways of getting things done. The action is a kind of puzzle about the lives of the characters under two oppressive regimes and in two different new cultures, their ways of struggling with these issues and how they cope in different concrete situations.
Their stories intertwine at some point and the end result is absolutely fascinating.
The Man in the High Castle, a must-watch series if you have the ability to imagine a changed history, the consequences of this and for the excellent character shaping with a particular focus on Nobusuke Tagomi (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa) on one side who seems to be the key to this story and Obergruppenführer John Smith (Rufus Sewell) on the other.
