Verona seen from the Maffei Palace terrace

One of the most beautiful things to do in Verona is to admire it from above. There are many vantage points from which you can see Verona, each with its own charm. Here are some of the most beautiful:

  1. Lamberti Tower: is the tallest tower in Verona and offers a stunning view of the city. You can climb to the top on foot or by elevator.
  2. San Pietro Castle: is a medieval fortress situated on a hill overlooking the town. From the castle’s terrace you can admire a view of the city and the Adige River.
  3. The Sanctuary of the Madonna di Lourdes: is a Marian sanctuary located on the hill of San Zeno. From the terrace of the sanctuary you can see the city and the surrounding hills.
  4. The Giusti Garden: is a historic garden located in the centre of Verona. From the terrace of the garden you can see the city and the Adige River.
  5. The Alto San Nazaro Park: is an urban park located on the San Nazaro hill. From the park’s terrace you can see the city and the surrounding hills.

Exploring Palazzo Maffei and its Panoramic Terrace

Palazzo Maffei in Verona

Palazzo Maffei, located in Verona’s iconic Piazza delle Erbe, is a destination steeped in history and art, waiting to be explored by visitors. This impressive building, with its richly decorated façade, houses a valuable art collection and offers access to a panoramic terrace from which to admire the city’s expanse.

Verona Panoramic Terrace

During my recent visit to Verona, I had the opportunity to see the city from above by climbing the terrace of Palazzo Maffei.

Palazzo Maffei, with its historic structure and impressive architecture, stands nobly in the city centre, offering unique views over Piazza delle Erbe and Verona’s colourful rooftops. The terrace is accessible daily, whether you choose to climb the stairs or take the lift, putting you in direct contact with the heart of the city.

Looking down on the city, you’ll see a panorama that combines history with modernity, centuries-old churches with contemporary architecture. From the terrace of Palazzo Maffei, Verona is revealed in all its splendour, a living picture that blends the past with the present.

The city appears in all its splendour, with its colourful roofs, churches and monuments. It’s an experience I recommend to anyone visiting Verona.

Here are some tips for visiting the Palazzo Maffei terrace:

    1. To reach the Palazzo Maffei terrace, visitors can choose to climb the spiral staircase of the palace or use the lift, both of which offer a special experience.
    2. Access to the terrace is possible with the purchase of a ticket, which at the time of our visit was 4 euros per person (only to visit the terrace) and 15 euros including the visit to the museum.
    3. Museum prices may vary depending on events and temporary exhibitions.
    4. The best time to visit this terrace is at sunset, when the light is best, and if you want to avoid the crowds, it’s best to go early in the morning or late in the evening.
