The best fashion films

The world of fashion is a fascinating, complex and colourful world. It’s a magical world, once you’ve stepped into it you feel enticed, spellbound and you can hardly turn away. On the other hand, it’s also a demanding, noisy and impetuous world. But, at the end of the day, all this makes up the real magic of the fashion show.

To get to know this tumultuous world better, I suggest six more fashion films that are worth seeing, whether you’re interested in this world or just want to model your style a little. Some of them I’ve reviewed now, some I’ve discovered recently, but all of them surprised me with a lot of charm.

Funny Face (1957)

After Breackfast at Tiffany you can see Audrey Hepburn in another cinematic guise. This time the beautiful actress plays Jo, a model accidentally discovered by fashion photographer Dick Avery (Fred Astair), who propels her into the world of fashion and show business.

Sex and the City (2008)

The Sex and the City series is the most loved fashion movie and not only. Watching this movie will spoil your aesthetic sense. Here you will see entire collections of outfits created by successful names, as well as you will be able to admire all kinds of shoes, absolutely gorgeous designs. Sex and the City is the film that no fashionista should miss.

Picture Me: A Model’s Diary (2009)

A documentary film about the life of model Sara Ziff, from when she was an unknown to when her image appeared in international magazines. A film about the many truths behind the scenes of modeling. A must see if you want to know and understand this fascinating industry better.

The September Issue (2009)

Who hasn’t heard of Vogue magazine? But how many of you really know the work behind such a successful magazine. The September Issue is a documentary film that opens the doors of Vogue’s editorial office, so you can find out about the colossal work behind the paper pages we flip through. You’ll find out how the biggest designers collaborate and how the models who pose for the magazine are selected.

Factory Girl (2006)

Factory Girl is the story of socialite and fashion icon Edie Sedqwick and her relationship with the controversial Andy Warhol.Edie Sedqwick is a beautiful girl who meets and falls in love with young artist Andy Warhol, and he turns her into a star.

Ready-to-wear (1994)

A tongue-in-cheek film by director Robert Altman, which shows the glittering world that gathers for Paris Fashion Week. The Paris event is a big one for big celebrities as it is impossible for anyone to miss it. In Prêt-à-porter you will see many famous names: Julia Roberts, Christian DeLacroix, Issey Miyake, Sophia Loren or Marcello Mastroianni.
